Chicago IJAN Stands in Solidarity with Hunger Striking Prisoners

In response to the call for solidarity with political prisoners on hunger strike, a small band of IJAN members and friends gathered at the Israeli Consulate around 8:30 AM on Friday, October 7, 2011, the morning before Yom Kippur began. The consulate is located in the building that houses the Metra train station, so foot traffic was heavy and we were able to distribute many flyers outside the door.

The flyers talked about Palestinian political prisoners and the Campaign to Free Ahmad Sa'adat. Several IJAN members were also participating in the 48-hour fast in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike in Palestine and in California. Later, we visited Occupy Chicago to hand out flyers there and add our signs to those calling for economic justice.
